Square commits $5M to build a solar-powered bitcoin mining facility.
The financial services firm has partnered with Blockstream, a blockchain technology provider. The project will serve as a "proof-of-concept for a 100% renewable energy Bitcoin mine at scale". The companies will establish a facility at one of Blockstream's US sites and information on operational costs and return-on-investment will be open to the public. Link
