Facebook to end special treatment for politicians.
The announcement comes after Facebook's Oversight Board (an independent group funded by Facebook to review its policies) approved Facebook's decision to suspend former President Donald Trump, but critiqued the special treatment it gives politicians, stating that the "same rules should apply to all users". This means that Facebook will end its controversial policy that mostly shields politicians from the content moderation rules that apply to other users. In response to the Oversight Board ruling, Facebook has suspended Donald Trump for two years until January 7, 2023, and says it will then reconsider the suspension. Link
