Day One is a popular journaling app for Mac and iOS. Automattic has been growing quickly over the past few years and they own a several notable online publishing properties like Wordpress.com, Tumblr (which they bought from Verizon in 2019), Woocommerce, and Simplenote. The biggest difference with Day One is that it is focused on self publishing and privacy, unlike WordPress and Tumblr, which are intended for public distribution. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Day One CEO Paul Mayne will continue to lead Day One following the acquisition and the rest of the team will remain onboard. Day One has been downloaded more than 15M times over the past 10 years since it was founded. Link
