The whistleblower behind the leak of internal Facebook documents has been revealed, ex-Facebook PM Frances Haugen.
On an interview with 60 Minutes, she said that her intention was to help the company. She became increasingly alarmed by how profits came before public safety and that the company's own research says that Instagram harms teenagers. Haugen gathered internal documents from Facebook before submitting her resignation, and those were the foundation of The Wall Street Journal’s Facebook Files series. Link
