Investigation finds Amazon puts its own brands first, even above better rated products.
An investigation found that Amazon places products from its house brands ("Amazon Basics") and products exclusive to the site ahead of those from competitors, even competitors with higher ratings and more sales. These listings are not visibly marked as "sponsored" and they're part of regular organic Amazon search results. In 2019 Amazon told Congress that its search results do not take into account whether a product is an Amazon-owned brand. Link
